“Doing anything the first time can be a nerve racking experience and that includes writing a novel. But I have to say working with David was an enjoyable experience. He was professional, funny, and paid attention to detail. I don’t know how many questions I asked or how much we went back and forth but I do know he was always patient and always responsive. My book now being complete I can say that I am proud of the finished product thanks in no small part to David.” – Thelonious Legend, author of Sins Of The Father (The Ascension Trilogy)

“My decision to self-publish was long and agonizing in part because I knew I’d need to find an editor that I trusted and worked well with. I feel extremely lucky that I found David who was recommended to me (highly) by an independent writer who’d worked with him in the past. From the very first sample, it was clear he knew his stuff. I can write all day long, but if you ask me about comma rules my mind goes blank. David doesn’t flinch at commas (which I totally needed), but more than that – he clearly loves his work and took extreme care when going through my writing. I actually feel as though I’m a better writer after working with him and, really, what more can you ask than that? I recommend David without hesitation and plan to work with him on my next book (and the one after that and…)” – Jacqueline Dooley, author of Doorways to Arkomo, Doorways Home, and Spiritwood

“I’m working with David on a book at this very moment (my second one with him). The first one was 450 pages and there was a LOT of editing work to do […] David is a pleasure to work with. He’s responsive, easy to get in touch with, on time, and never judges me for bad grammar. So, there you have it. I look forward to many more projects with him.” – Stefan Bolz, author of The Fourth Sage and Dark World

“David Antrobus worked with us recently on our Epic Fantasy novel The Road to the King, copy-editing and proofreading, first and second pass. Not only did he provide us a fair quote for said services up front, but he fully explained the process, came up with a reasonable payment plan and kept in frequent contact. His suggestions were professional, understandable and yet respectful of the artistic process. We will utilize his services again.” – Steven and L. R. Styles, authors of The Road to the King and In Service of the King

“What I need from an editor is all that grammar and punctuation stuff. What I want is clunky sentences to be made beautiful. David does both. I’ve had a handful of good editors over the past twenty years and hope that David will be my only and last.” – Bob Brown, author of Life Is Not Enough and New Darwinian Laws Every Business Should Know

“I did a second edition of my poetry book and required a good editor, as my previous one did a less than mediocre job. David was so easy to work with and a pleasure to deal with. His editing service is affordable and good quality. His editing suggestions were logical and fit well with the book and what I was trying to accomplish with it. I am thrilled with how my book came out the second time around and can’t wait to release it, knowing that this time, it is the best it can be thanks to the help of David. I will definitely use his service for my next book.” – Lavinia Thompson, author of Melting Candles and Beyond Dark (Belladonna #1)

“David Antrobus copyedited my novel Playing Charlie Cool. Not only is David knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with, he preserved my writing voice throughout the project and made some great suggestions that improved the internal logic of a couple of scenes. I would definitely hire him again.” – Laurie Boris, author of Playing Charlie CoolSliding Past Vertical, A Sudden Gust of Gravity, The Call, and The Kitchen Brigade

“David did an outstanding job. There were two facets, in particular, that were so appealing. First and foremost, he is incredibly thorough. His attention to detail and flow were remarkable. Secondly, he was able to ‘step back’ from the novel and make recommendations regarding paragraph and sentence structure as well as some very astute observations about the story line. I could not be more pleased nor more impressed and would not hesitate to recommend him. On a personal level, he is simply a good man to work with. I will, without doubt, work with David on my next novel.” – Vince Milam, author of The Unknown Element, Gather the Seekers, and the Case Lee series

“David is an excellent editor. He doesn’t police style, and provides detailed reasoning behind his editing choices. For speculative fiction, his stylesheet is an invaluable tool for further editing. I certainly plan on working with him again.” – Alex Cousins, author of Last Resort

“David truly helped me take my manuscript and have it looking the way it needed to. He was excellent in finding inconsistencies in my writing and really helped me master and control my writing quirks. I would highly recommend him to any writer.” – Danielle Mathieson Pederson, author of Lasera

“David has an impressive history and background for editing. I initially hired him for that reason and because of the many glowing testimonials on his website. A consummate professional, he explains the process from beginning to end and sends a free sample edit. He does two passes, providing you with a style guide, and he teaches as he goes. Since David is in demand, he juggles a tremendous workload with exceptionally good turnaround time. In addition, he makes the process fun. He loves writing and reading, has a passion for both, and it shows in his approach. I found him to be patient, gracious, humble, and kind—always willing to answer any questions along the way. In light of the superior quality of his services, his prices are more than reasonable. He is outstanding and the best at what he does. I highly recommend him.” – Kyrian Lyndon, author of Deadly Veils: Shattering Truths

“I came across David Antrobus while plying the Editors’ Association of Canada website. After a phone conversation, I was inspired to give David’s services a try, and have since used him for both structural editing/evaluation and copy editing on my thriller manuscript. All the way along I found David to be professional, enthusiastic, detail-oriented (a must for a good copy editor), and willing to go that extra mile. For example, while he was evaluating my novel from a substantive perspective, he jotted down notes after reading every chapter, so that I would get a sense for what he was thinking as he read it in ‘real time.’ This was above and beyond the feedback he provided for categories such as plot, characters, setting, dialogue, etc. I would definitely recommended David’s services.” – Matthew Jackson, author of Hitler’s Assassin

“David made the editing experience of my first full-length novel incredibly rewarding. It was very clear that he cared about helping me learn the process and create the best possible product. His flexibility and availability throughout the entire duration are shining examples of his professionalism. Thank you, David, you have helped create meaningful work and helped me grow substantially as a writer.” – Brandon Csokonay, author of Cerberus & Cigarette’s

“I am a perfectionist and it was a pleasure working with David. He loves his craft and he does a superb job. I hope to work with him again on my next book.” – Laurence Leamer, author of Sons of Camelot: The Fate of an American Dynasty and The President’s Butler

“I can attest that all the good things they say about David Antrobus are true. He’s easy to work with and truly cares about the projects he takes on. He will listen to your needs and will do his best to fulfill them. His editing is superb, and he offers insightful suggestions. He edited my fantasy novel and the result was a finely honed manuscript and an author who has learned a lot! David’s bright humour and encouraging words have made the experience an enjoyable one. I look forward to working with him in the future and recommend him to anyone looking for a quality edit. He is an invaluable asset for any project.” – J. A. Alexsoo, author of The Knight’s Order and Blood Branded (Mix-Blood #1)

“David Antrobus was the editor of my first novel, Masks. His brilliance is beyond imagination; he didn’t only edit my book but also taught me how to become a better author. He works with devotion, fidelity, and honesty. I do recommend David to all authors because he is the best; he has helped me out with every single detail without hesitation, and he never lets me down. He is my guide and the godfather of my novel, Masks. He is a friend you can count on, an editor you can totally depend on, and a guru in the world of literature. I owe you a lot, David. Thank you.” – Nataly Restokian, author of Masks

“Having written over a million published words, you’d assume that I’ve worked with a number of editors, and you would be right—over a dozen, in fact. After wrapping up my latest novel, David now stands among my favourites for his use and understanding of language, his adept eye toward structure, pacing and tone, and just for being so darn conversational! David takes the time to understand—really understand—your work, its characters and its messaging; no, really, he grasps the workings of my world almost as much as I do. He’s become a permanent fixture in my editorial team, and I’d recommend his services to anyone serious about perfecting their prose.” – Christian A. Brown, author of the Four Feasts Till Darkness series

“Stop looking for an editor; you’ve found the man you need. David’s attention to detail and mind-boggling affinity for the English language (in all its flavours) are matched only by his ability to get you more excited about your own work than you ever thought possible. He’s the kind of editor who not only turns your draft into a polished manuscript, but also—by virtue of his seemingly inexhaustible interest—allows you the courage to be happy with your own work.” – E. P. Danis, author of Cycles of Orion: Volume One: Fire in the Dark

“Once you’ve reached the inescapable conclusion that no one should ever attempt to edit their own work, it’s time to call David Antrobus. That’s what I did, and I never looked back. David vacuumed from my novel an unexpectedly high number of typos, inconsistencies, inaccurate historical references, and embarrassing, unintended gaffes. David’s attention to detail borders on the fanatical. But fear not, Mr. Antrobus is among the few properly described as ‘a gentleman and a scholar.’ Don’t present your work to anyone until David first puts it under his microscope. You’ll be very glad you did.” – Daniel Harrison, author of The Deltonians

“I could not have chosen a better editor for my needs as a first-time author, because David has truly become a trusted partner and, in the process, a friend. He is thoughtful, diligent, and insightful in his editing (which was a hybrid approach that combined stylistic editing and copyediting), and he has a fastidious eye when it comes to even minor linguistic slips and grammatical errors. He got my sense of humor, and we quickly shifted into a mutually relaxed candor that sometimes led to lively philosophical debates about topics broached in the book, all of which helped lend greater depth to the story and its characters. He was also extremely accommodating (and patient!) with my timeline, and he was consistently willing to work with me on flexible and reasonable compensation, because he actually does care about helping authors succeed in every way. I will certainly be using him for all my future projects, so this is just the beginning!” – Karen Yakey, author of Home Beyond Hell: Book 1

“What a gift. Prior to engaging David Antrobus’s services, I had never worked with a professional editor, and I have to admit I felt considerable trepidation. Handing my manuscript over was an act of supreme trust, but David’s approach was so sensitive, respectful, and kind, that within minutes of starting to read his first editorial comments, I knew I’d made the right decision. David’s insights, humour, patience, and steely grasp on the finer points of grammar and punctuation have helped me to sharpen, tighten, and polish my manuscript without compromising either my voice or style. I’ve learned so much through this process—perhaps most importantly that now I wouldn’t even consider attempting to look for an agent or self-publish a novel without securing the services of a professional editor. In fact, he’s already agreed to slot my next novel into his editing calendar.” – Kern Windraith, author of Talking to Strangers

“Before hiring David, I’d checked out a few of the books he’d worked on and saw that he was a good editor. After hiring David, I can tell you that he’s more than that. Not only did David do an excellent job with finding all the errors in my manuscript, he also took the time to explain the issues he uncovered, and even gave me a couple of good laughs in the process. He’s got a deep knowledge of grammatical rules, an understanding of modern fiction practices, and a wonderful personality. If you’re looking for an editor, look no further!” – M Andrée Brown, author of Until One Remains
